I do my best to keep my yearly goals and resolutions SMART – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. Additionally, I only aim for 3-5 targets in different areas of life. Based on these guidelines, I created my 2020 Resolutions List based on 3 major categories.
My 2020 Goodreads Reading Challenge is 40 books this year. This is five less than 2019, because I anticipate starting my Master’s will take more of my free time and require me to read denser and larger books on theories, world events, etc.
Additionally, I hope to start my Master’s degree this fall!
I hope to save $5,000 to put towards my Master’s degree tuition. This will be tricky for me, because I do a lot of little jobs, not 9-5 salary. However, I anticipate living at home this spring and buckling down on my spending (sorry Chipotle), will help manage this!
First and foremost, I will not buy any clothes this year unless they are secondhand/thrifted or sustainable and fair trade (such as PrAna). This will also help me with my Minimalism Journey.
I also want to continue to cut down on food waste. Within the last month, I started collecting food scraps for our local community compost. I am also more intentional about cooking/eating fruits and veg that are going bad sooner.
Lastly, I want to try shampoo & conditioner bars. I really struggle even contemplating this transition, because I love my hair and traditional shampoo & conditioner has kept it manageable for 20+ years. However, I think this might be a critical step in my Zero Waste Journey, too!
