Giving Tuesday Guide

Giving Tuesday Guide

This holiday season, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the different places asking for donations. As someone who loves too many nonprofits, I wanted to create a Giving Tuesday Guide.

Giving Tuesday is the first Tuesday following Thanksgiving that was created to counteract the greed of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

This list includes most of my favorite nonprofits that support many social justice and human rights issues. I also include the Charity Navigator score (out of 100), so you have a quick idea of how transparent and resourceful each organization is. Charity Navigator is a wonderful tool that analyzes nonprofits’ tax forms, fundraising efforts, etc. to help gifters understand how their money is utilized.

I know this list can still be overwhelming, but I hope it gives you a little more guidance. If one of your favorite organizations isn’t listed here, I would highly recommend you check out Charity Navigator to make sure your thoughtful and generous donations are going to good places.

If you are not able to give a financial donation this season, check out my post on different mobile apps you can use to give back in other ways here.

‘Tis the season for giving, and I hope you get the opportunity to give and receive this holiday season!
